„Mobility on the move“ – Junior Research Group DynaMo discusses socio cultural aspects of mobility transitions with international experts
October 1st/2nd, the Junior Research Group DynaMo convened the international and interdisciplinary workshop „Mobility on the Move – researching the socio-cultural dimension of the transitions to come“ in Potsdam. The discussions and outcomes of the effort prove to provide valuable perspectives and insights for the work within the research group.
The socio cultural dimesion of mobility transition was the central port of entry for the two-day workshop at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) in Potsdam. To approach the immanent research gaps and challenges within this broad field, the Junior Research Group DynaMo invited renowned experts from different disciplinary and national backgrounds. The participants shared their personal research interests, and were grateful to discuss these with colleagues as well as with the DynaMo members, who themselves benefited from comments on their personal qualification projects. To foster this exchange, three „Think Piece“ rounds opened up the space for the participants to present actual research projects and open questions within their work: Contributions covered such diverse topics as for example autonomous driving, spatial concepts and questions, and imaginations of future mobility pattern. General discussions on the role of social sciences within mobility research added up on this program. During the workshop many questions necessarily remained open and must be further discussed and specified. The DynaMo team is looking forward to integrate these open questions into their own projects and to document the workshop outcomes in a covenient manner. We like to thank all participants, who shared their perspectives and knowledge and we are grateful for the support of the team of the IASS, that contributed a lot to a sucessful workshop.
